The Future is Plastic Free
Talk to us
One of our brands is plastic free!
The future is plastic free and we are not the only ones who are moving this way. One of our brands has made the move too.
Since the 1st of August 2019 one of our favourite brands, Écologie, has gone completely plastic free. Écologie was launched last year with their mission being “to build a better future for our planet without compromising on style”. This statement is why it quickly became one of our favourite brands and we have been pushing for people to switch.
Their unique range of sustainable t-shirts, sweatshirts and knitwear come in a range of colours and finishes, and more importantly, are all created from ecologically friendly cotton sources. All the garments help to reduce the negative impact of the apparel industry on the environment. Écologie are now producing all their garments with recycled polyester only.
Écologie have now made the decision to go completely plastic free with all their packaging. All orders are shipped in reprocessed cartons and they have now phased out all virgin plastic materials.
Finally, another company in our industry that has recognised the urgency of the plastic crisis we are facing. To reduce the environmental impact of all their future orders they will now be shipped without plastic bags.
What are JUSTSO doing?
A year ago we made the decision to switch from our plastic bags to brown paper bags we are fully recyclable. Since then we have strived to do our upmost to reduce our wastage and reduce our use of plastic. We realise that as a small company we are not going to make the biggest dent in our plastic crisis, but we believe that if we all do a tiny bit to help then we will create a big dent in the issue.
After a lot of thought on what else we could do we got ProTerra Recycling Solutions in to help us. Since getting them in we have now got a clothes recycling bin where we can put any items that are not quite right or even offer the service to our clients that rebrand. These items will have the logos removed and be recycled.
We have also never bought any cardboard boxes to send our items out in. Our suppliers send all the garments in cardboard boxes so we resend all our items back out in these. Although our business is based around brand recognition we feel it’s unnecessary to brand our delivery boxes when most people simply throw them away.
Currently we are going through the process of cutting down all the labels used in the office and paper wastage. Setting up recycling bins across our site. Switching our backing material (used for embroidery to stabilize the fabric) to one that can be recycled or one that is biodegradable.
We are serious about our planet, are you?
